Born in Los Angeles and raised on the Northern Neck of Virginia, Kristel Poole is a multimedia creative professional with an appetite for fresh oysters and fine wines. She earned her editorial chops and artistic au jus at the University of Virginia (BA, 2005) and her Introductory level sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers (2016). Kristel is a writer, photographer, event planner, graphic designer, content strategist, editor and restaurant industry professional.
Despite her work being published internationally, her proudest moments usually involve serving perfectly poached eggs to impressed brunch guests. She has crafted beverage programs, wine menus, staff training, event programs, and management strategies for award-winning Richmond-area restaurants, including a AAA Four Diamond establishment. Kristel has worked as a brand ambassador in the food and beverage and beauty industries, and developed food and beverage recipes for local, national and international brands and publications.
Kristel brings her creative and energetic spirit, extensive food and wine industry knowledge, and charismatic leadership capabilities to the Modern Gentleman team, where she leads efforts in events, branding, social media, communications and operations.
Kristel lives in the downtown arts district of Richmond, VA. If she's not pouring vino or planning the next big MG venture to unite local restaurateurs with seasoned farmers, you'll find her in the kitchen with a bottle of Blanton's. She'll probably have a cooking tip or a tidbit of cocktail knowledge to share if you're willing to listen, but don't worry, she'll always offer you the drink first.
